Sutter’s Fort ELP Overnight Field Trip
March 15-16, 2018
What is it?
Sutter’s Fort is a highlight of the year as students become real people from the 1840’s and inhabit the Fort for twenty-four hours, walking in the shoes of California’s early settlers from the 1840s. The class will first travel to the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento. From there, we will travel by horse pulled wagons to the fort. The kids will spend the entire day rotating through stations and activities, eat dinner, enjoy music/square-dancing, and spend the night in the fort.
All stations during the field trip are run by classroom parents. Everyone is trained prior to the trip so they can teach the kids as they rotate through the stations.
When is it?
The trip itself will be on March 15th and 16th, 2018. On March 15th, the students will be at Sutter’s Fort all day. On March 16th, the students stay at the Fort for breakfast and cleanup before returning to school. Once the students arrive back at school (at about 9:00am), they are dismissed for the rest of the school day.
